Kathryn Schafermeyer

Principal

Dr. Schafermeyer

I am thrilled to serve as the principal of Fearn Elementary School in School District 129. Joining this vibrant and dynamic community has been a rewarding experience, and I am excited to build upon the strong foundation that has been established here. My journey in education spans over twenty years of building leadership experience, having served in the communities of Wheaton, Yorkville, and Oswego. This extensive background has equipped me with a deep understanding of diverse educational settings and the ability to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

I began my educational career as a passionate fifth-grade teacher, where I discovered my love for inspiring young minds and nurturing their academic and personal growth.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, a Master of Education in educational administration, and a Doctorate of Education in curriculum and instruction. These academic achievements have provided me with a solid foundation to lead and innovate in the field of education.

In the coming school year, I look forward to embracing the curiosity, complexity, and joy of learning with our students and staff.

Assisant Principal

Mr. Linden

I’m honored to join the Fearn Elementary community as your new assistant principal. I come to Fearn from Jewel Middle School, where I served as the dean of students. In that role, I led our student services team, helped coordinate support plans, and worked to promote student well-being and positive behavior.

Before that, I taught fifth grade in a sheltered/blended classroom at Greenman Elementary, supporting English learners from a wide variety of language and cultural backgrounds. I’ve also had the opportunity to serve on the District Equity Leadership Team, where I helped review policies and practices to ensure they are inclusive and representative of all students in our district.

My background includes experience in student discipline, peer conflict resolution, behavioral threat assessment, and building strong partnerships with families. I hold both a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University.

I’m excited to become a part of the Fearn community and am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the West Aurora school community in this new role.
